Jim's Work in Schools

Jim has been delivering environmental education for nearly twenty five years.  Working with schools, teachers and pupils, Jim can create all manner of features, including nature trails, outdoor classrooms, bird hides, growing areas, orchards, wildflower meadows, composting areas, insect habitats and ponds of all sizes . Greener Places can improve opportunities for learning outdoors and all curriculum subjects can be approached through using school grounds as an effective, stimulating and exciting way of teaching.  Jim can help your school in its journey through various current initiatives, including Growing Schools, Healthy Schools and Sustainable Schools.

The benefits of using the living environment as a school resource are many.  From a small growing area to a pond and wildlife area, everyone will gain - especially those pupils who find classroom learning difficult.  Teachers can widen their subject knowledge and enjoy more motivated children.  The school can utilise new approaches to raise achievement and the wider community can be involved in a variety of projects.  The development of school grounds  can lead to a wider understanding of issues such as healthy eating, sustainability and caring for the environment.

Jim can also help your school with applications for grants to support your projects.  Please contact him to discuss your requirements.

Jim can tailor a package to suit your needs and budget, whether it's implementing a school ground project or delivering an environmental lesson or session to a class.
